Procedure Overview

The Methodist Church have produced a SAFER RECRUITING CHECKLIST to help churches when recruiting volunteers.  It shows the process the church and circuit should follow.

In December 2023 the forms that volunteers were required to complete were condensed into one form, which will make the process much easier to understand.  A job description should be given to any applicant so they are aware of their responsibilities and boundaries, to avoid Boundary Drift.
Churches can make adjustments and add responsibilities to suit a particular volunteer.

We have produced a new form ROLE CHECKLIST (downloadable as a PDF) which gives details about DBS, Safeguarding Training & EDI/Unconscious Bias training requirements for the most common roles in this Circuit.  This is reviewed regularly in line with changes made by the Methodist Church.
